FA Cup Predictions: 4th Round

There might not be any Premier League games until midweek but I’m in a predictive mood (if that’s a mood you can be in) so I’m going to have a stab at predicting the notoriously unpredictable FA Cup. There’s 16 games so slightly less detail than usual but its the score lines that matter. Before we go on a visit to the One Game at a Time homepage HERE and a follow on twitter @cameroneyles would be great. Anyway on with the predicting.

Derby County v Leicester City

Its a local derby as playoff chasing The Rams, managed by Steve McClaren, take on the woefully out of form, Premier League Champion, Leicester City. Right off the bat I’m going to go for an upset here. Derby have been much improved under Stevie Mac and The Foxes already have Champions League and Premier League commitments.

Prediction: 2-1

Liverpool v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Liverpool desperately need a win to get their season back on track and they should do it here. Wolves are no pushovers though.

Prediction: 3-1

Blackburn Rovers v Blackpool

Rovers are having a pretty torrid time in the Championship this season while Blackpool have settled into mid table in the fourth tier. This is another local derby and I reckon it’ll go to replay.

Prediction: 1-1

Burnley v Bristol City

Hard to look past Burnley here, their home form is outstanding. Plus Bristol City are on an awful run of form.

Prediction: 2-0

Chelsea v Brentford

Another local derby but its hard to predict anything other than a Chelsea victory, they are unstoppable at the moment.

Prediction: 3-0

Crystal Palace v Manchester City

Its an all Premier League fixture and despite their patchy form you would think that City will get the win here, Palace have been pretty poor under Big Sam who probably isn’t worrying about the FA Cup at all.

Prediction: 1-2

Lincoln City v Brighton & Hove Albion

Non-League Lincoln were the story of the third round and given they are top of the National League I’m sure their fans are loving life. Brighton are a very good team and look set to go up to the Premier League but I reckon Lincoln will get something here.

Prediction: 0-0

Middlesbrough v Accrington Stanley

Should be a routine win for Boro, but we did lose to Accrington in the EFL Cup a few years ago.

Prediction: 2-0

Oxford United v Newcastle United

This should be a good tie but I’m backing the Magpie to upset the home fans and get the win.

Prediction: 0-1

Rochdale v Huddersfield Town

Both teams are in the Playoff spots in League One and The Championship respectively  so are on good form but purely because they are in the division above I will go for Huddersfield.

Prediction: 1-2

Tottenham Hotspur v Wycombe Wanderers

Despite having Akinfenwa up front I don’t foresee a Wycombe victory here.

Prediction: 3-0

Southampton v Arsenal

Saints are already in the EFL Cup Final and they will be looking to book themselves another trip to Wembley. Arsenal have won the FA Cup two out of the last three years but I see this one being a very entertaining score draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Millwall v Watford

Neither club is having a particularly remarkable season, so I’ll go with Watford as they are two tiers above Millwall.

Prediction: 0-2

Fulham v Hull City

Marco Silva has got Hull playing well since he came in but they are on the verge of losing more of their pest players and should be looking to get out of the FA Cup. Fulham are having a fairly decent season in the Championship and I think they’ll win here.

Prediction: 1-0

Sutton United v Leeds United

Another non-league success story here as Sutton face Leeds United. Usually Leeds are in such a state you think they would slip up in a match like this, but Garry Monk has got them pushing for promotion this season. I already went for my heart over my head in the Lincoln v Brighton fixture, so I’m picking Leeds.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester United v Wigan Athletic

Another local derby but I can’t see United not winning here. Wigan are not in good form in the Championship.

Prediction: 3-0

Right that’s the predictions done for the FA Cup 4th Round. Feel free to leave a comment and as always, thanks for reading.
